  2. New names for the War Memorial

    Thame Remembers have now completed the first round of submitting names and supporting evidence, for scrutiny by a Town Council Working Group, of men who it is believed were missed off the Thame War Memorial and who can hopefully be added at a future date.

    We are thrilled to present the latest Thame Remembers newsletter. This edition features a spotlight on how the French celebrate Remembrance Day and a focus on Private Albert George Thomlinson after we helped the Commonwealth War Graves Commission with additional research on his imprisonment in a war camp in 1940.

  7. End of year update

    As we approach the end of 2016, the town and project team can reflect and be proud of a very productive year. There have been many highlights and new connections made along the way and we are excited about 2017.

  8. Thame remembers the fallen on Sunday

    The Thame Remembers wreath was laid yesterday at the memorial to remember the 213 soldiers we are commemorating. The whole town seemed to be out to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in a moving ceremony. The TR team had a stall and helped sell poppies for the British Royal Legion.

    An ambitious four year project such as Thame Remembers will always include a few surprises but a particularly surreal moment was when Wendy Townsend, a Thame resident, contacted Dave Bretherton earlier this year with an extraordinary proposal.
